Please use the below as your guide for any questions you may have regarding our Company Kids Program.

  • How can my child join the SDA Company Program?

    Our SDA Company program handpicks students who have been a part of with SDA and have shown growth, dedication and versatility over a period 2-3 years. Students MUST BE enrolled in SDA Fall semester in studio or after school classes. SDA Company Program placement is by invitation only.

  • What are the various options my child has at the SDA Company program?
    This year our SDA Company Program has 3 opportunities- SDA Performance Team, SDA Competition Team, SDA Competition Intensive. Students will be invited to these 3 divisions on the basis of their talent, prowess and dedication.

  • What is the difference between Competition Team and Competition Team Intensive?

    Our Competition Team program includes additional class hours than the Intensive and allows our students to build stamina and technique over time. These students are expected to become the backbone of our Competition Team and model for our other team members. The Competition Team Intensive program is designed to allow all talented performers from all our locations to be able to participate in the Competition Team. The pace and material will be accelerated and encourage our students to test their boundaries.

  • What happens if my child misses more than 1 session?

    A doctor’s note must be provided if your child misses an intensive prior to the competition. Company Dancer may not miss more than one intensive session or more than 2 regular classes.

  • What should I wear for the Company Class?

    All SDA Company Students must come dressed in an SDA Tee and Black athletic bottoms (NO JEANS PLEASE).

  • What do I bring for SDA Company Class?

    SDA Company Classes are a NO DEVICE ZONE. Company Kids must deposit their smart phones and watches in our safety box prior to class and may collect them after class is over, before leaving the studio.

  • What do I need/own/wear for performances or the competition?

    You will receive specific instructions on the costume or attire required for the event. Please make sure to follow the guidelines provided by the choreographer or instructor. All Company Dancers MUST own

  • How should I prepare for the performance or competition?

    All SDA Company students MUST COMMIT to practice 3x times a week outside of class and to be able to learn, new choreography every class. They must be willing to accept and follow any advice given by their instructors, and ensure you are physically and mentally prepared.

  • What if I am unable to make it to a class/rehearsal due to ill health or a previous engagement?

    Parents must email sdajc.operations@gmail.com to inform us of their child’s absence. Please DO NOT TEXT.

  • What happens if I am feeling unwell or injured before the event?

    Inform us immediately by emailing sdajc.operations@gmail.com if you are not feeling well or if you have any injuries. Your health and safety are a priority, and your instructor will provide guidance on the best course of action.

  • What should I bring with me to the event?

    Performers must arrive fully dressed in their costume, with make up done and bring along any personal items you need in a small labelled backpack. Backpack must contain essentials like water, a dry nut free snacks, a brush or comb, foundation, red/ pink lipstick/lip gloss, black eyeliner, gold eyeshadow, gold blush. All students must wear skin tone colored essentials under their costume. No Phones or electronic devices will be allowed backstage at events other than a digital watch.

  • Can family and friends attend the event?

    Generally, family and friends are encouraged to attend. Ticketing details, if applicable, will be shared with you in advance.

  • How will we get to the event venue and when can I be dismissed?

    Arrival and Departure instructions to and from performance and competitions must be strictly adhered to by students and families. Students must be checked in with their instructors on arrival and checked out once they have permission to leave. Please ensure you inform the instructors, if the student is being picked up by someone other than the person who registered them for the class. Make sure to follow any post-event instructions provided by your instructor. This may include helping with clean-up, attending a debriefing session, or simply enjoying the time with your team.
