At SDA, we offer a diverse range dynamic array of programs designed to inspire, challenge, and nurture students of all ages and skill levels. From foundational techniques to advanced artistry, our classes blend structured learning with creative exploration. Each program is crafted to build core skills, enhance performance, and ignite a passion for dance. This semester SDA will conduct dance (Bollywood, Hip Hop, BollyJazz, Kathak, and Bharatanatyam) as well as Hindi Language and Cultural Immersion lessons. Please find all our class descriptions below.
Bollywood Beginners
Ages: 3 - 4 years
Our Bollywood Beginners class caters to newcomers eager to explore the rhythm and energy of Freestyle Bollywood.
Prerequisite: No Prior Dance Experience Required

Prerequisite: Must have attended a min of 3 semesters of SDA Bollywood Beginners class

Ages: 5.5 - 7 years
Bollywood II course is designed for those students who have mastered the basics, build on your existing knowledge, explore more complex choreography, and refine your performance techniques.
Prerequisite: Must have attended a min of 3 semesters of SDA Bollywood I class

Ages: 7.5+ years
Bollywood III students must have the ability to concentrate for the entire length of the class to master advanced level choreography, refine technique and enhance your performance artistry.
Prerequisite: Must have attended a min of 3 semesters of SDA Bollywood II class

Ages: 6.5+ years
Our Kathak course is designed to pay ode to India’s traditional and cultural heritage through shlokas, tukdas and storytelling through which refine grace, technique, expression, and performance acumen.
Prerequisites: Willingness to commit and focus on verbal, theory and visual instructions as well as commitment to at home practice at least twice a week.

Footwork and Technique: Strengthen Kathak posture, stance, and basic techniques with a focus on precise execution of Teen Taal footwork and correct technique for chakkars (Kathak circles).

Our Bharatanatyam course is designed to pay ode to the oldest dance form with focus Natya (theatrical dance), refined technique,, graceful precision and Abhinaya (acting and expressing).
Prerequisites: Willingness to commit and focus on verbal, theory and visual instructions as well as commitment to at home practice at least twice a week.

Prerequisites: Willingness to commit and focus on visual instructions as well as commitment to at home practice at least twice a week.

Prerequisite: Must have attended a min of 3 semesters of SDA Hip Hop I class

Bal Ramayan/Bal Krishna
Step into the enchanting world of Indian mythology with our Bal Ramayan/Bal Krishna Leela Theatre Class! This 6 week program, designed for young performers, brings to life the timeless epic of Ramayan (in fall) or stories on the life of Krishna (in Spring) through interactive theatre activities, culminating in a grand showcase.
Ages: 5+ years
Class Highlights:
Theatrical Training: Kids will learn basic acting skills, including voice modulation, facial expressions, and stage presence, all while immersing themselves in the characters of the Ramayana.
Cultural Immersion: Through storytelling and role-playing, children will explore the rich cultural heritage and moral lessons of the Ramayana, understanding the values of courage, loyalty, and righteousness.
Interactive Learning: Fun games and exercises that enhance memorization, teamwork, and improvisation skills.
Language & Diction Training: Practicing correct pronunciation of Hindi sounds, specific to the scenes from the epic tale.

Grand Showcase: The class will culminate in a spectacular Bal Ramayan Mini Musical where the young actors will present scenes from the Ramayan in full costume, complete with elaborate sets and props, as part of a festive Diwali bash. This event will be a vibrant celebration featuring traditional Diwali activities, sweets, and decorations, making it a memorable experience for all.

Bhangra I
Our Bhangra I program tailored for young dancers who want to build a strong foundation in Bhangra basics. Students will dive deeper into Bhangra techniques, mastering the vibrant spirit of the dance and learning how to confidently perform dynamic routines. This course promises a vibrant blend of traditional Bhangra energy and modern dance styles, refining your movements with precision, power, and cultural flair.
Prerequisite: Must be eligible for the Bollywood I class level.

Ages: 18 months - 3 years
SDA x Buzy Bugs Touch & Tango Toddler Classes are designed to stimulate your child's senses, foster exploration, and encourage creativity through a combination of sensory activities and dynamic play. We provide a well-rounded environment that supports sensory development, motor skills, and musical interest in a fun and interactive setting.
Prerequisite: Must have a parent/guardian or caregiver attend sessions with their toddler.
Class Highlights:
Sensory Development: Engage the five senses—smell, taste, touch, sight, and hearing—through carefully curated sensory activities.
Taste-Safe Sensory Play: Explore taste-safe sensory materials to enhance sensory experiences while ensuring safety.
Exploration and Messy Play: Encourage toddlers to get messy and explore different textures and tools, promoting tactile learning and sensory discovery.

Hindi Language & Cultural Immersion
Ages: 3+ years
SDA x Buzy Bugs present a Hindi Immersive Craft Class, where creativity meets culture! This engaging session is designed to introduce students to the rich heritage of India through language, hands-on art and craft activities, all inspired by the grandeur of Indian royalty.
Prerequisite: Students must be able to attend independently. No parents, guardians or caregivers are allowed in class.
Class Highlights:
Language Immersion: Students will learn basic Hindi words and phrases related to colors, shapes, and craft materials, along with royal terms like "Maharaja" (king), "Maharani" (queen), and "Rajmahal" (palace).
Royal Exploration: Students will Dive into the opulent world of Indian royalty, exploring the lives and traditions of ancient kings and queens, and the splendor of their majestic palaces.
Creative Projects: Students will create beautiful crafts like jeweled crowns, royal scepters, traditional jewelry, and colorful palace wall hangings.
Storytelling: Each session includes a story time featuring Indian folktales and legends about kings, queens, and their majestic kingdoms.
