Our BollyKathak class will work on the basic technique and nuances of the classical dance form Kathak. This class will be taught in accordance with the Jaipur Gharana of Kathak and as such emphasis will be placed on the footwork (Jaipur Gharana focuses more on the foot movements). We will be working on the posture, Kasak (wrist movements), chakkars (circles/turns) and the use of dance movement to express a story. Special attention will be paid stage presence, facial expression while combining the classical movements with Kathak based songs from Indian Cinema. Students will work to hone their individuals strengths and work as a team through travelling the breadth of the stage while staying true to the Kathak taal. They will have the opportunity to participate in our Spring Recital 2020. BollyKathak fees include kurti (top) for class and ghungroos.
