SDA Mother's Day Celebration 2021

Join us for a virtual celebration to honor our moms this Mother’s Day with Shehnaaz Dance Academy (SDA), Author Shweta Ganesh Kumar and TangleTime with Anushya. Our event will begin with a book reading session of the beloved book, TheTiffin Gang, by Author Shweta Ganesh Kumar. This will be followed by an Art activity for the kids by Anushya Mamtora from TangleTimeWithAnushya. We will conclude our event with a foot tapping, follow along dance segment for all ages by Shehnaaz Jagasia, founder of Shehnaaz Dance Academy.

SDA is a Jersey City based Indian dance school that conducts Bollywood, BollyNatyam, BollyBhangra, BollyHop, Contemporary and Folk dance classes for kids, youth and adults. We are excited to be a part of the Jersey City Public Library (JCPL) Virtual Programming, to display diversity in the afterschool activities conducted at our Jersey City schools. We also have our adult BollyHIIT dance fitness sessions for a fun calorie burning sweat sesh. Our classes are currently being conducted both in person and virtually via zoom.

Shweta Ganesh Kumar is a writer, award-winning Blogger and Founder-Editor of The Times Of Amma, a blog featuring real life stories on honest parenting. She was awarded the prestigious UN Laadli Media Award for Gender Sensitivity in the Blog –Web Category for 2017 for her article, “Why The Phrase “Boys Will Be Boys” Is Damaging Our Sons “ published in Women’s Web. Her book, The Tiffin Gang, has been published by Pratham Books. The development of this book has been supported by P.A.N.I. Foundation and aims to showcase the diversity of Indian Cuisine and the role food plays in bringing communities together. We are so excited to be discussing the importance of 'Mom Made Food’ to our lil readers.

Anushya Mamtora, an integral part of SDA and the founder of TangleTime with Anushya, conducts festive Mandala, Zentangle and craft workshops for small businesses, corporates, schools and camps. Anushya will be conducting a simple art activity for the kids to add a special touch to Mother’s Day.
