Independence Day 2017 Performances

Shehnaaz Dance Academy students performed all their routines exceptionally at the 2017 Indian Independence Day Events in Jersey City. I hope you all were able to catch their amazing performances!

Indian Independence Day Celebration in Jersey City, Exchange Place Pier, August 12th, 2017

We have been a part of this spectacular Indian Independence Day event in Jersey city for a few years now. Hosted by JCFamilies this event took place at the Exchange Place pier and showcased Indian Culture against the fabulous backdrop of the NYC Skyline. Our students performed two sequences to the tunes of JAI HO and RANG DE BASANTI. In our group dance for Jai Ho, we incorporated steps from Bharatnatyam to bring a taste of the classical dance to our students. Our solo performer dancing to the beats of Rang De Basanti was a massive Hit with an element of surprise appearance for the audience!! We let our patriotic spirit shine through with this high energy Bhangra Fusion number which culminated in thunderous applause.

Kids Celebrate Indian Independence Day at Jersey City City Hall, August 15th, 2017

This was Shehnaaz Dance Academy's first performance at City Hall. Hosted by Newport Mommy and the Jersey City Office of Cultural Affairs, this event was held at the Jersey City City Hall. The children performed the two JAI HO and RANG DE BASANTI routines with finesse and grace. The children received a certificate at the event and a lot of praise from their contemporaries.
